An OutlineIn essence, a strategic architecture is a collection of data about various aspects of an organisation. It is arranged so that its various elements can be related to each other and so that the effects of change on each can be tracked through to their effects on related items. These relations, and the results of tracking may follow from one group to another to another so as to provide the widest possible view of the ripple effects of a proposed change or course of action. The brief discussion of objectives identifies some of the ways in which a strategic architecture can benefit the organisation. Aspects of the organisation and the ways in which they are related are illustrated by some examples as the spheres and relationships which may be recorded and mapped. The ways in which initiating an architecture project can take place are followed by some detailed examples of what the results might look like. Flow modelling is an additional feature of Strategy SAVIŽ which enhances the tracking of relations between the many items of data about the organisation. It is illustrated with particular reference to Business Process flows. Apart from the mostly intellectual process of defining the dimensions and relationships required for a specific organisation, thought must be given to populating the architecture which we give some guidance on. Strategy SAVIŽ is a versatile alternative to many predefined or individually constructed database products and other uses of the product are indicated. |
