Systems Architects and Engineers specialising in the effective use of Systems Architecture, Methods and Tools since 1982

Without defining the detailed use of the software, this section comments on the use of standard techniques to provide the item by item input to the architecture once its spheres and relationships have been defined.

Existing Information or New Analysis

Where possible it will be advisable to review existing information about the subjects of the architecture. Much existing material will be out of date or may need clarification. It is a common experience to assume that most of the detail exists in current data analyses, system specifications, organisation charts or other documentation, only to find that these are sources which have not been maintained or coordinated with each other. The process is basically one of current systems analysis, gathering information not only from available documentation but from user interviews and workshops. If proposed function, organisation, system or other information is to be included, then similarly, systems design techniques are needed to establish at least the outline of new elements.

Making Direct Use of Existing Information

Existing information about relations between the various architectural elements has often been recorded using spreadsheets and this data can be captured directly into Strategy SAVIŽ. See Entry from Spreadsheet Data for details of the process.
