Why Build an Architecture?

The purposes of a Strategic Architecture project may include some or all of the following:

To identify opportunities for revising Business Processes to improve their efficiency;

To identify those areas of the enterprise where new or revised Information Systems would provide assistance in achieving corporate goals;

To identify common business elements, referred to as Business Components, which can be implemented by the design and preparation of common IT modules also referred to as components;

To provide outline specifications of proposed new data bases and systems which will satisfy the requirements of these areas;

To determine an optimum implementation sequence for new data bases and systems based on both priority and viability;

Spin-off possibilities for organisation change, reconciliation of corporate objectives and others must also be included.
