Moving SAVI to a Different Folder

Remember that, as installed, SAVI uses four folders:

bulletthe Application folder
bulletthe User Guide folder (Help)
bulletthe Test Project folder (ArchData)
bulletthe Update folder (same as the Application by default)

If you want to move the whole of SAVI into e.g. your Program Files folder, then use standard Windows facilities, drag and drop or move, to do just that, move the SAVI folder and all its sub-folders from the root folder, C: to C:\Program Files. After you have done this, the next run of SAVI will detect the new location and will correct its base location. IT WILL NOT CHANGE THE LOCATIONS OF THE SUB-FOLDERS. To correct this, in the Projects Controller form, change the addresses of the sub-folders to include the Program Files reference. For the test project, this means change the address from:

C:\MSAVI\TEST        to:

C:\PROGRAM FILES\MSAVI\TEST

(SAVI replaces MSAVI for the Classic version)

You will also need to update your shortcuts to refer to the new location. Click here for a note on how.

The sub-folders don't need to be located within the Application folder but can be placed anywhere you want them; it is only necessary to advise SAVI of their whereabouts similarly to the above.

Finally, note that, if you move SAVI after the first run, you will get a Paradox error when you next run it. Simply click OK and the rest will follow as above.
