Systems Architects and Engineers specialising in the effective use of Systems Architecture, Methods and Tools since 1982

Project Types

Real architecture projects are of two types. They are initiated because specific problem areas are seen to require a more fundamental approach than limited analysis or because it is realised that there is no satisfactory coherent plan for implementing Information Systems. Whichever is the case it is essential to begin by defining the Spheres of Interest which will be mapped and the relationships between them before beginning to collect detailed information.

The Architecture Team

The architecture project team should not be limited to only Information Systems personnel. Many phases of the project will require knowledge and understanding of the enterprise and its workings which are unlikely to be available to the IT community. On the other hand, some of the necessary tasks will require the skills of the systems analyst or of the hardware or software specialist.

Only an Example Architecture

In the discussion of the process of defining an architecture, examples in this guide are given from the demonstration project supplied with the evaluation version of Strategy SAVIŽ. Please note that this limited version contains only three spheres and their relationships, exemplified by a very restricted set of items and relations. It is in no way a template, but simply a means of demonstrating the facilities provided by Strategy SAVIŽ.
