When you have information recorded in spreadsheet form of the relations between such architectural elements as Processing Functions and Data Entities and these map onto spheres in your Strategy SAVIŽ schema, you can recover this data directly. From the Facilities page of the main menu, simply click the Import New Matrix button to begin  the process. This will display, first the matrix import selector where you can select the file to be imported, followed by the new matrix identification form in which you can identify the spheres and sphere item codes which correspond to your spreadsheet data and, finally, the matrix import manager form where you can review the results and perform the import.

Identifying External Data

Spreadsheet data, imported in this way, must first be identified to its Strategy SAVIŽ spheres. The example shown in the representation of the form has been related to the demonstration project and consists of Logical Functions at the Function level and their relations to Information at the Data Entity level. Functions are shown on the vertical axis and Data Entities on the horizontal axis. A section of the original spreadsheet, prepared using Corel™ QuattroPro for Windows is as follows:

To identify the spheres, it is only necessary to click on the Row and Column

On entry of a sequence code for any row or column item, the system generates the next code for each subsequent item until it finds an item which already has a sequence.

New codes are generated according to the algorithm defined in Sequence Codes.

Allocating Sequence Code Blocks

To allocate a single block for all of the items in the vertical axis list, enter the first required code in the Item Sequence field of the Row table and press enter. Codes will be generated for all items in the table.

To allocate codes in two separate blocks, go to the first item in the second block, enter the desired code and press enter. Codes will be generated for all items lower in the table. Now go to the first item in the table, enter a code and press enter. Codes will be allocated in sequence until the first item of the second block is encountered (with its already assigned code) where the process will stop.

To switch between allocation of codes for rows and columns, click the Set Col/Set Row button. The label changes according to which table is currently in view.

Finishing the Identification

When all of the items have been given sequence codes, the process is completed by clicking the Copy button. The system then creates a new temporary matrix table, SAVIMX, in the format of a pre-exported matrix which it hands on to the standard Matrix Import form.
