Moving on to the Main Menu

The main purpose of the projects controller form is to select the project on which you wish to work. On entry, the form will display the last selected project and the last user of this copy of Strategy SAVIŽ identified in the audit box at the top right of the form. If the user ID shown is not yours, enter your own ID of up to four characters in the User field. If you wish to choose a different project, click any field of that projects entry in the projects table. These actions will be mirrored in the Audit box and you can the click the Begin button to move on to the main menu form.

Changing the List of Projects

To add a project, click on any field of the last entry in the projects table and press the Down Arrow key. This will cause a new, empty record to appear in which you should enter the name of the new project and its full path. If the project already exists at this path, that is you are adding a reference to a project created from a different copy, no further action is taken. If the project is new but the path already exists, a reference will be created in the Projects table and when you click the Begin button with the new project selected, all of the necessary tables will be created in the project directory (folder) ready to define and use it. If the specified path does not exist, you will be warned and given the choice of creating it or respecifying a correct path. The first choice may give a further warning if the project canot be created as specified. For example, you may have requested creation in a directory of a network drive which is not, at present, connected. When a new directory has been successfully created, the system will record the new project and continue as for a project created in an existing directory.

To delete a project, click any field of its entry in the projects table and then click the Delete Project button. This will delete only the reference to the project. If you wish to delete all of the projects tables etc. you will need to do this outside Strategy SAVIŽ, using Windows Explorer or the equivalent.

You can respecify a project's path simply by entering the new path. This will not move the project and is only valid if you wish to change the reference in the case that the intended path has been changed by another user or a similar condition. To move a project, create a new project in the desired location and use the Project Transfer facility.

Other Paths

Two further fields are carried in this form, the Update Path and the Guide Path.

As explained in Installation, Updates to Strategy SAVIŽ, updates to the system arrive as files named ARCHUPDT.EXE and are actioned automatically. To specify an update path as there described, enter it here in the Update Path field.

Your copy of the User Guide may be installed locally for each copy of Strategy SAVIŽ or it may be installed at a single location for all users. The system defaults to a copy by copy installation in a sub-directory of its own software/working directory named "\help". To change this, enter your desired path in the Guide Path field.

Each of these paths should end in a backslash. It will be added automatically on exit from the field if necessary.
